Danilo set to join Real Madrid on five year contract – report

by Ben Topliss

Manchester United target Danilo has agreed a five year deal with Real Madrid which will be announced in the summer, according to Brazilian media outlet Globoesporte.

Reports have suggested Louis van Gaal was interested in bringing the £37m rated right-back to Old Trafford as it is a position he is keen to strengthen.

Manchester City, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona were also linked with Danilo but it appears Madrid have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a transfer with him.

With Rafael out of the starting XI and Antonio Valencia producing poor performances of late, van Gaal has been looking for a right-back to compliment Luke Shaw on the left.

Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Alves have also been linked with moves to United while the likes of Mats Hummels and Aymeric Laporte are wanted to add steel at the heart of the team’s defence.

Real Madrid signing players from the under the nose of Man United has been a bit of a repeating pattern over the last few years so it would be no surprise to see it happen again.

The real concern from Man United fans surrounds David de Gea and whether Madrid will make a move to sign him in the summer because with contract negotiations seemingly stagnating, the possibility of De Gea leaving looms large over Old Trafford.
