Robin van Persie missing for Tottenham Hotspur game

Louis van Gaal has confirmed Robin van Persie will miss Manchester United’s game against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Van Persie has been sidelined for Man United since injuring himself away to Swansea and at this stage there is still no confirmed return date for the Dutch striker.

All season long, even when van Persie has been fit, United have looked very lacklustre in attack but with Radamel Falcao still worryingly out of form and James Wilson remaining on the first-team fringes, Wayne Rooney is the only current striker in any sort of goalscoring form.

Unless van Gaal pushes Rooney back into midfield against Tottenham Hotspur, the United captain will lead the line once again this weekend but whether Falcao partners him remains to be seen.

United really have to improve in attack if they are going to win on Sunday because their recent performances simply haven’t been good enough.

Tottenham are a strong side and have the in-form Harry Kane who will be their main threat, so David de Gea has to be on his toes once again because he is likely to be busy.
