Valencia insist they will not listen to any offers for Manchester United target Jose Luis Gaya and that they want him to sign a new contract.

Gaya has established himself as a first-team regular this season at the La Liga club despite being just 19-years-old which is extremely impressive given the quality of opposition.

According to the Daily Star, Man United and Arsenal have sent scouts to watch the left-back in action and were impressed by what they saw.

In light of speculation, Valencia’s director of football Francisco Rufete has moved to publicly state the club will not be selling the youngster and want him to stay at the Mestalla stadium for a number of years to come.

Speaking about Gaya’s future, Rufete said: ”We are doing our best to keep Gaya, and so are his agents. He is a player that we love, and we won’t listen to any offer.

“We can’t even think about his departure, I think he will be our team’s captain in the future.”

A move for Gaya would be odd considering United already have a young, talented left-back in the shape of Luke Shaw but transfers rarely make sense at Old Trafford.

That being said, the Englishman has been in and out the team due to injury so a backup may be needed to create some competition in the squad.
