Louis van Gaal happy with Manchester United’s reaction to Arsenal defeat

by Ben Topliss

Louis van Gaal has praised the reaction of his Manchester United players after the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup on Monday night.

Man United were knocked out of the Cup thanks to a late winner from former striker Danny Welbeck.

It was a difficult one to take for fans, particularly as the Gunners’ two goals resulted from United errors.

Van Gaal is delighted with how his players have reacted and said they have had a good attitude in this week’s training sessions.

Speaking about their reaction to the result, van Gaal said: ”They’ve reacted fantastically in the training sessions. I cannot speak more highly about the professional attitude of my players. They are willing to do everything.”

It was a desperately disappointing result for fans as it wiped out any hopes of winning silverware this season.

To add to United’s misery, Angel di Maria was needlessly sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the space of a minute. However, this may be a blessing in disguise as the Argentine has looked out of sorts in recent weeks. Perhaps a week out of the limelight will help him to get his head right.
