Edurne Garcia, the singer and girlfriend of Manchester United keeper David de Gea, has appeared to have come round to her adopted city following the 3-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
The 29-year-old posted a message on Twitter praising the team accompanied by the hashtag #gloryglorymanunited. She’s a new age super-fan.
Garcia had previously made headlines for comparing Manchester to the ‘back of a fridge’ in an interview on Spanish television.
A quick glance at her tweets reveals she hasn’t posted such a message before so it appears her latest message is a nod to what she said last week:
Partidazo que se esta marcando hoy el @ManUtd !!!! #gloryglorymanunited

It shows how worried United fans are about De Gea’s contract renewal when details like this are relentlessly analysed.
De Gea is enjoying his finest season in a United shirt but a new deal hasn’t been forthcoming amid strong interest from Real Madrid. A number of factors are said to be behind the 24-year-old’s reluctance to commit to United, including his girlfriend, the length of the deal and a suitable release clause. Of course, Manchester is no Madrid but Garcia must be looking in the wrong places!
