Manchester United’s Ashley Young has insisted he would never consider leaving Old Trafford despite having just one year remaining on his current deal with the club.
The 29-year-old’s performances have earned him a number of plaudits this season and there have been calls for his return to the England set up.
There have also been concerns over Young’s contract at United but the player himself has said he is unconcerned with the situation at the moment.
Speaking about his deal, Young said: “That’s down to the chairman and manager to speak about. I’m just concentrating on my football.
“I’m not thinking about the length of my contract. I just want to do well in every game that I’m picked to play.”
When asked whether he would consider leaving the club, the 29-year-old said: “Of course not. I’m a United player and I’ve got a year left on my contract.”
It goes to show just how far Young has come at Old Trafford when fans were clambering for his return from injury earlier this year in comparison to last year when his absence from the side would be met by sarcastic jeers.
Looking ahead to Sunday, Young will be hoping to continue his good form against Liverpool and so will fans.
