Idrissa Gueye: Manchester United move would be a dream come true

by Ben Topliss

Lille defensive midfielder Idrissa Gueye has admitted that joining Manchester United would be a dream come true as he has always supported the club.

Gueye has impressed in Ligue 1 this season having scored three goals in 24 league appearances.

The Senegal international was part of Lille’s league and cup double-winning team in 2011 along with the likes of Eden Hazard and Yohan Cabaye.

Although Man United haven’t really been linked with Gueye the player himself said he has always felt great affection towards the club and that he wouldn’t turn down a move to Old Trafford should they wish to sign him.

Speaking about United, Gueye said: ”Joining Manchester United would be a dream. I’ve always supported them. I adore them.”

United are in the market for a tough-tackling midfielder, having been linked with the likes of Kevin Strootman and Nigel de Jong this season.

Whether or not Gueye is the man to bring balance to Louis van Gaal’s midfield is another question. Money isn’t really an issue for United but he would be a cheap option for the club. Arsenal were linked with Gueye last year and were reportedly close to submitting a £5.7m offer for him.
