David de Gea – Likely to be Manchester United’s most important player on the day as Liverpool are going to have plenty of chances.
Chris Smalling – Ditto.
Michael Carrick – Turned back the clocks with a stunning performance last week and van Gaal will be looking for Carrick to make sure Man United keep a hold of the game.
Ander Herrera – Equally as impressive as Carrick. It’s been a long time since United have had a ball playing midfielder like Herrera away at Anfield.
Marouane Fellaini – His best performance in a United shirt was against Spurs but with his Everton history, Liverpool fans will spit bile at Fellaini. Needs to control his discipline.
Ashley Young – He should be very confident going up against Glen Johnson and if he can swing in some fizzed crosses, he’ll create plenty of goalscoring chances.
Angel di Maria – Tough call to drop Juan Mata but United will need the pace on the counter-attack. Bringing Mata on for the last 15 minutes if the game is really tight could have a big impact too.
Wayne Rooney – You really get the feeling Rooney is going to kick the bucket and put in a top performance tomorrow at Anfield, a place he has tradtionally (like United in recent years) played very poor.
