Jose Pekerman is keen to meet with Radaeml Falcao and help restore his confidence next week during the international break.
Falcao has been called up by Pekerman for Colombia’s games against Bahrain and Kuwait in spite of his poor form with Manchester United.
Although Pekerman admits Falcao currently has a ‘huge problem’ which needs resolving, he has every confidence in being able to bring the best back out of him.
“It’s a huge problem that we need to resolve; this problem is as large as the sadness that Falcao is going through right now,” Pékerman said.
“I feel I need to support him because I understand how hard it is for him and the difficult moment he is experiencing. I want to work with him again and help him restore his confidence.”
During an international break earlier this season Falcao scored for Colombia and looked far more comfortable than he did playing for United at the time.
Some time away from England could do Falcao some good and Pekerman feels the upcoming break is going to be an important period for the striker.
He added: “I know Falcao’s strengths, his mentality and his fighting spirit, and I’ve never doubted that he’ll come out the other side.
“He’s in a bad moment, but he’s looking after himself and this week is going to be very important for him.”
Pekerman clearly has every belief in Falcao but the current problem has gone on for so long that the striker has almost lost belief in himself.
Right now, his United career is coming to an end before it ever got started but maybe Pekerman can get Falcao back to his best for the closing stages of the season so fans can, at least for a month or two, see him scoring goals regularly at United.
