Ander Herrera wants to play for Manchester United for five years minimum

Ander Herrera has no intention of leaving Manchester United any time soon and instead intends to play for the club for a minimum of five years if he can have his own way.

The 25-year-old midfielder has endeared himself to Man United fans right from the very first minute he arrived at the club and his infectiously happy attitude, combined with ever improving and influential performances, mean he has quickly become a fans’ favourite.

At the start, Herrera spent a lot of time on the bench, much to the frustration of fans, but his mental approach to his career at United never wavered.

“Manchester United are the second wealthiest club in the world, and they continue looking for talent. Everyone takes time (to adjust),” Herrera said.

“Now I am playing more, but when I wasn’t playing I always knew in my head that I came here to play five years minimum, not just a few months.”

Herrera’s on the pitch influence peaked at Anfield yesterday as alongside Juan Mata in midfield, he made it impossible for Liverpool to get any consistent influence in the game.

It was Herrera’s threaded pass to Mata which allowed him to open the scoring and as it transpired, it was his committed tackle which Steven Gerrard reacted to and got himself sent off.

Much like Mata, Herrera has become part of a Spanish contingent which is winning over the hearts of United fans, and long may it continue.
