Manchester United rejected the loan offers of several Championship clubs who wanted to sign James Wilson on loan.
Reports suggest there was a wave of interest in the 19-year-old striker including clubs such as high flying Derby County where Jesse Lingard is currently on loan but that Louis van Gaal was not interested in letting him go at all.
With Robin van Persie still currently sidelined and Radamel Falcao forever struggling to find his feet, Wilson all of a sudden becomes an option for van Gaal to have up front about his strikers.
A lot of the times, a loan spell is definitely in the best interest of a 19-year-old player but Wilson is simply too important a player to let him leave.
This season has been all about progress for Wilson and he has improved as the year has gone on but fans are hoping to see more of him on the pitch sooner rather than later.
Louis van Gaal clearly trusts Wilson which is why he started him at Old Trafford against Liverpool but doesn’t want to rush him into the side too regularly.
That being said, between now and the end of the season there will be chances for Wilson to score and what he has to make sure he is is ready to take them when they are presented.
