Jesse Lingard has been named in England U21s starting XI to face Germany in a friendly this evening.
England boss Gareth Southgate didn’t start Lingard last week in their 1-0 win over Czech Republic but the 22-year-old midfielder has done enough to earn his opportunity this evening.
It might be a friendly on paper but as is always the case when England play Germany, there will always be a big rivalry and it will no doubt be a full blooded affair.
Here is England’s starting XI in full: Bond, Jenkinson, Garbutt, Forster-Caskey, Stones, Gibson, Lingard, Ward-Prowse (c), Ings, Hughes, Redmond
Man United fans are keen to see Lingard get back towards his best form having been out for so long this season and a game against Germany is the perfect occasion for him to step up to the plate and impress, so good luck to him.
Kick-off is 7.45pm tonight and there is live coverage on BT Sport.
