Juan Mata believes Manchester United should approach their tough fixture list one game at a time as they bid to finish in the top four of the Premier League.
Louis van Gaal’s side are currently fourth in the table after registering impressive victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool recently.
The wins have given Man United a good platform to build on but they face the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea next month.
Mata wants United to keep up their momentum by winning as many games as they can.
Speaking about the fixtures ahead, Mata said: “We are in the last stage of the Premier League, with just eight weeks ahead: eight crucial games to determine where we will finally stand on the table.
“Personally, I think setting our goals game after game is the right thing to do, trying to win as many of them as possible and keeping the momentum following these two wins versus Tottenham and Liverpool.
“I check the calendar and I see four big games for us in April: Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Everton. All of them are big clubs and we want to show that we can beat them, getting close to our goal and also making our fans happy.”
The form of Mata will play a big part in whether or not United come away from April in a good position in the table.
The Spaniard has enjoyed a renaissance in recent weeks, putting in fantastic displays in the wins over Spurs and Liverpool. Given his exclusion from the Spain squad for the international break, Mata should be rested and ready to go this weekend against Aston Villa.
