Louis van Gaal ready to let Nani leave Manchester United permanently – report

Louis van Gaal has instructed Manchester United to sell Nani in the summer as the Portuguese winger is not in his plans, according to A Bola.

Nani has spent the season on loan at Sporting Lisbon and impressed back at the club where he started his career, turning his poor Man United form around to get back among the goals.

There have been calls for the 28-year-old to return to United but the suggestion now is that van Gaal does not see a long-term future for him at Old Trafford.

Unfortunately for Nani, his serious knee injuries at Man United sucked the life out of him. While prior to them he was devastating, the surgeries and time on the sidelines really affected him mentally.

That being said, he has found a new lease of life at Sporting and has scored some cracking goals over the course of the campaign.

However, United are said to be looking at the likes of Memphis Depay instead of keeping Nani at the club.

Given that Depay is younger, faster and all round better than Nani but played in the same position, it’s hard to envisage both of them being at the club in the long-term if Depay were to join.

Nani is reportedly on a huge wage packet at Old Trafford so getting him off the books will give them much more room to manoeuvre when it comes to new arrivals.
