Aston Villa could be without 11 players for Manchester United clash

Aston Villa could be without 11 first-team players when they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United this weekend.

An injury crisis at Villa has left the likes of Joe Cole, Jores Okore, Aly Cissokho, Matt Lowton and Kieran Richardson all facing spells on the sidelines.

Tim Sherwood may also be without Nathan Baker, Philippe Senderos and Ron Vlaar.

Tom Cleverley cannot play in the game as he is on loan at Villa from Man United, while Libor Kozak and Chris Herd will definitely be out with a broken leg and a knee ligament injury, respectively.

The news will come as a big boost to Louis van Gaal, who is looking to continue United’s fine form following impressive wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.

However, United may have players missing themselves as there are question marks over the fitness of Robin van Persie, Luke Shaw and Chris Smalling.

Given the amount of injuries that Sherwood has to contend with, anything else than three points for United would be deemed a monumental failure. With games coming up against the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, it is imperative that the team gets the win.
