Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal is prepared to fight for his place following the signing of Danilo but may leave the club if a big offer comes in for him.
His place in the starting XI is now under threat and although Madrid are no strangers to buying expensive back-ups having spent £27m on Fabio Coentrao previously, Carvajal will understandably be concerned about his long term future.
Perhaps Madrid president Florentino Perez simply wanted to one-up Barcelona, who were linked to Danilo but couldn’t buy him due to their transfer embargo.
Of course, Madrid’s loss could be Manchester United’s gain if they decide to make a bid for Carvajal. The 23-year-old has bags of potential and could link up well with the Spaniard’s already in the United squad.
David de Gea, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Victor Valdes have created a Spanish clique at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal while the likes of Marcos Rojo, Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao also speak Spanish as well, so Carvajal would feel right at home.
He’s a top quality player and Madrid would be foolish to let him leave but if Di Maria and Mesut Ozil’s exits are anything to go by, there’s every chance Carvajal could be on his way out if the right offer came in.
