Marouane Fellaini has been nothing short of superb in the last few weeks for both Belgium and Manchester United.
With four goals in his last four performances, the midfielder has made himself indispensable and looking ahead to this weekend, The Mirror reports Louis van Gaal is set to keep him in the starting XI.
Although Falcao himself got back among the goals with three in two games for Colombia during the international break, there’s simply no way Fellaini can be dropped from the team because of his form.
It’s phenomenal how impressive Fellaini’s turn around has been since his red card away to Manchester City and he is showing right now that his up turn in form isn’t simply a flash in the pan, so he deserves credit where it is due. Right now, he is looking more worth the £27.5m paid for him two summers ago.
As for van Persie, he shouldn’t expect to get anywhere near the first-team until he has fully regained his match sharpness and with a massively important April coming up including fixtures against Manchester City and Chelsea, van Gaal will be in no rush to bring him back.
United come into the game against Villa off the back of two wins over Spurs and Liverpool so confidence will be sky high and as van Gaal named an unchanged side away at Anfield, there’s no reason to suggest he won’t do the same this weekend.
Falcao deserves a chance and would no doubt come off the bench at some point during the game but in terms of playing your in-form players, Fellaini should be one of the first names on the team sheet right now for van Gaal.
