Juan Mata‘s overhead kicked against Liverpool at Anfield has been chosen as Manchester United’s Goal of the Month for March.
The Spaniard’s acrobatic finish turned out to be the winner in a 2-1 victory and it capped off a brilliant performance from the midfielder.
Prior to the most recent game, United’s record in the last ten years has been very poor at Anfield but the dominant performance of Louis van Gaal‘s side was fantastic.
There’s a reason Diego Forlan’s name is still sung by Man United fans after his brace at Anfield back in 2002 and speaking about his goal, Mata admits he’ll never forget that day.
“It was a very special moment,” he told ManUtd.com.
“I don’t know how to explain it because I just did what came into my mind. It was a very special day and it has to be up there in the best moments of my career.
“Playing at Anfield in the Manchester United shirt, scoring two goals and winning… it’s a day I will never forget.”
Don’t worry Juan, United fans won’t ever get the day you made the scousers cry either.
