Herrera was magnificent from start to finish at Old Trafford and scored twice on the way to a 3-1 victory.
The Spaniard is enjoying arguably his finest run of form for Man United and has been deservedly earning a number of plaudits for his displays.
Jones added to the praise for Herrera and revealed he had a tough time against the 25-year-old when United faced his former club Athletic Bilbao in 2012.
Speaking about Herrera, Jones said: ”He’s been terrific. For the last few months he’s been on fire, scoring goals, making runs, playing little one-twos, he’s hard to live with.
“I remember playing against him when we played Athletic Bilbao and he gave me the run around to be fair, so I knew what sort of player we were signing when he came.”
After being left out of the starting XI for long periods earlier in the campaign, Herrera is really starting to show the ability which convinced United to part with almost £30m for him last summer.
As well as his goals, Herrera’s all-round play against Villa was fantastic and he was easily the Man of the Match. More of the same against City next week, please!
