Phil Jones has been named in’s statistical Premier League Team of the Year so far.

The team is made up of players who are ranked top in their positions according to the website’s stat-based system.

On average, Jones has the second-most interceptions per game (3.6) in the whole league while he has also notched up 2.1 tackles and 6.9 clearances.

He is joined in the team by the likes of James Tomkins, Gael Clichy, Cesc Fabregas, Santi Cazorla, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa:

Although Jones has enjoyed some good form of late, fans will be a little surprised to hear of his inclusion in the team.

Marcos Rojo has been the standout defender for Louis van Gaal’s side this season having settled into life well at the club since arriving from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

How Costel Pantilimon got in the side ahead of David de Gea is also anyone’s guess given the Spaniard’s sensational form over the course of the campaign.
