Daley Blind continued his impressive form at left-back for Manchester United with another solid display against Aston Villa.
Blind had been almost forced to play there given the success of a midfield three consisting of Michael Carrick, Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini is continuing to have, combined with constant injuries to Luke Shaw.
But the Dutchman had been a key part of a side that took six points from Tottenham and Liverpool, so despite Shaw’s return to the squad on Saturday, Blind kept his spot in the starting XI.
It was a justified decision by Louis van Gaal. Blind showed he and Ashley Young continue to form an understanding, the former setting up Ander Herrera for the opener right before half-time but with £30m spent on Shaw last summer, United supporters are wondering just what the future holds if there is no place for Blind back in the middle.
Blind put in a great shift at LB. Its amazing how a player like him played the entire season in midfield and seamlessly drifted in fullback.

Shaw would have been looking on tentatively as Blind once again performed admirably down the left but United fans will have some sympathy for the teenager given his injury issues.
Given his good form before Christmas, another series of injury problems has cost him a place in a team now performing as a unit and it will be interesting to see how heavily he is involved during the rest of the campaign.
