Whilst Radamel Falcao is still struggling for form at Old Trafford, it’s clear Manchester United fans are still desperate for the Colombian to do well.
The air of popularity surrounding ‘El Tigre’ may appear odd to some supporters away from Manchester but the aura around his surprise signing back in September immediately ensured cult-hero status at the club.
Falcao was once again given a rousing reception when he entered the game against Aston Villa, although he didn’t manage to get among the goals.
Two goals in January doubled his tally to four for the season and at that point there was more hope for a brighter future but with Louis van Gaal finding a system that works, Falcao’s time at Old Trafford is fizzling out.
Despite that, it was clear on Saturday fans are fully behind him still:
When Falcao is on the pitch I will everything for him the get ball in a goal scoring position. Never happens though #NoLuckAtAll

I don't think I've ever wanted a player to score and succeed at Utd as bad as @FALCAO attitude is first class.-

Falcao may not be great at United but he celebrates very goal scored by his team like it won us the UCL.Love his passion.

Supporters hoped Falcao’s track record would see him become the 20-goal-a-season striker Van Gaal craved but it sadly hasn’t happened that way.
Whilst Jorge Mendes may be keen to keep his client close to home, it’s almost unthinkable at this point that United would agree to such a deal unless the £43m was lowered substantially.
