Ander Herrera has been recognised for his excellent performance against Aston Villa by being included in ESPN’ Premier League Team of the Week.
The Spanish midfielder continued on from his impressive performance away at Anfield and was in superb form at the weekend in Man United’s 3-1 win over Aston Villa
It keeps Herrera going on what is best run of form since joining the club this summer and fans are delighted to see him playing so well.
Given that Herrera used to struggle to even get into United’s team under Louis van Gaal, it’s a testament to his mental strength that he came into the side and has done so well when given the opportunities by the Dutchman.
When Herrera wasn’t in the starting XI earlier this year there were a lot of frustration as Wayne Rooney was playing so poorly in that midfield position but van Gaal persisted.
However, both Ander and Wayne’s form have been on a steady upward curve since they moved back to their respective natural positions in midfield and up front. It’s amazing what happens when players are used in their favoured positions isn’t it?
Regardless of what happened at points earlier this season, van Gaal has got United singing off the same hymn sheet right now and Herrera has been one of the conductors, so deserves all the praise he gets.
