The future of Robin van Persie at Manchester United became a topic of discussion on Tuesday following a report from the Mirror which suggested the Dutchman will be sold by Louis van Gaal in the summer.
Van Gaal is said to be unconvinced by van Persie following a number of sub-par performances over the course of the campaign.
It would be a tough one to take for fans given his fantastic, title-winning form during Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season in charge.
On the other hand, his displays this term have been far less impressive and the 31-year-old looks to be on the decline. We asked our Twitter followers if they think van Persie should be sold by United in the summer:

@PeoplesPerson_ No, Falcao will go back to Monaco and Chicharito may leave. Id keep him for another year as 3rs choice behind Waz and Wilson

@PeoplesPerson_ Yes please. Forward line needs refreshing. Rooney, Wilson and a new arrival next year. (Not Cavani)

@PeoplesPerson_ depends on who we get & what LvG decides do with Chicarito.

@PeoplesPerson_ YES. No coincidence we've played our best football w/o him in the team. Shadow of the player he was in his first season

@PeoplesPerson_ no should be given a chance in this new 433 as lone striker to prove himself, still a lethal finisher.

@PeoplesPerson_ Yes. Even if can extract 10m then its good. Get someone like Lacazette or Icardi

@PeoplesPerson_ Id have Rooney and Wilson ahead of him. If we continue to play 1 striker then his playing time will be limited to none. Sell

Ultimately, it depends on who van Gaal can bring to the club as a replacement for him but fans are divided when it comes to whether or not they want van Persie to leave.
If United can sign a player such as Paulo Dybala or Edinson Cavani, then van Persie’s days at the club may well be numbered. If they fail to land their targets, he will be needed as cover as it is more than likely that United will let Javier Hernandez and Radamel Falcao go in the summer.
