Atletico Madrid defender Miranda has revealed he is “proud” to be linked with Manchester United but insisted he will stay at the Vicente Calderon.
Reports have suggested Atletico were ready to sell Miranda in the summer but it appears as if the player wants to stay at the club.
However, the Brazilian was happy to be linked with United as well as Manchester City as it shows he is performing well.
Speaking about the speculation, Miranda said: ”Of course this news reaches me, and it makes me happy. It shows I am doing well.
“It makes me proud, but my intention is to stay at Atletico because I still have a year and a half on my contract.”
At 30-years-old, United would be wise to look elsewhere for a central defender as Miranda approaches the twilight of his career.
Miranda has a wealth of experience at the highest level but United need a world-class player who can marshall their defence for years to come. Hummels fits the bill in that respect but whether he will leave Borussia Dortmund remains to be seen.
