Gary Neville doesn’t want Angel di Maria to leave Manchester United this summer and remains hopeful he will start showing his best form.
Di Maria immediately settled into life at Old Trafford and impressed in his first few outings as a Man United player but his progress was cut short by injuries.
Since the injury, the season has been very stop start for that same reason and although he is now fit again, his confidence has seemingly been drained.
Despite his poor run of late, Neville has made it clear he’d be happy to see Di Maria at Man United next season.
“It was good to see Di Maria come on and they’ll be happy with that,” Neville said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football when discussing Di Maria’s assist against Aston Villa.
“I really, from a Manchester United point of view, hope that we don’t lose him and that he stays and shows his best.”
Neville is clearly a fan of Di Maria and why not?
The Argentinian is capable of moments of magic every so often but they are far and few between at the moment, and those sorts of players will always be loved by fans for their attacking endeavour.
Di Maria will be fit and available for selection again next week, so it will be interesting to see whether or not he will come straight back into the starting XI.
