Manchester United are preparing a move for Fulham wonder-kid Patrick Roberts in the summer, according to the Telegraph.
The 18-year-old is widely considered to be one of the brightest prospects in English football but has started just three games for the Cottagers in the Championship this season.
His development has been slowed by Fulham’s disastrous campaign as they look to avoid a second successive relegation.
A number of clubs including Man United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are reportedly looking to capitalise on this and are preparing offers for the youngster.
Fulham asked for £15m for Roberts in the last transfer window but they will get significantly less than that this summer as the player is entering the final year of his contract.
At international level, Roberts has scored five goals in eight appearances for England’s U19s side while he was a key part of the team that won the European U17s Championship in Malta last year.
The success of imports to United’s academy sides has brought through some great prospects in recent years but the acquisition of bright, English talent is something that will always be the cornerstone at Carrington. In that respect, Roberts fits the bill.
