Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted it would be a dream to beat neighbours Manchester City in the derby on Sunday.
A win for Man United would give van Gaal’s side a great chance of finishing third in the Premier League.
However, City have won the last four games between the two sides and will be determined to rescue their faltering season.
It is a massive game and van Gaal has dreamt of registering a victory in the clash.
Speaking about a potential win, van Gaal said: “Of course I dream of it. Every player dreams of victory. I have to think with my staff and my players, already a lot of days, how we have to beat Manchester City.
“You are sitting in that process to win your next opponent. Of course, you want to win because it is a big step in the table also.”
While David Moyes aspired to be City, van Gaal is dreaming of beating them. It’s a big, and welcome, change in mentality.
Beating City is incredibly satisfying at the best of times but a win this weekend would be even sweeter as both sides bid to consolidate their top four positions.
There is a mood around Old Trafford ahead of the match that United can not only beat City, but really turn the screw on them and inflict a heavy and demoralising defeat.
However, the game might not pan out that way and it may well turn out to be a cagey affair given it’s importance.
