Having taken a trip to Portugal alongside his family and Angel di Maria for Easter weekend, Rojo returned and got straight back into training.
As Smalling faces a late fitness test ahead of the derby this weekend, there is every chance Rojo will keep his spot in the starting XI alongside Phil Jones at the heart of defence.
At one point this season, Rojo was considered the first defender’s name on the team sheet because his form was so consistent and it came at a time where United were looking so shaky at the back.
Although he was edged out of the team thanks to Jones and Smalling’s form, Rojo is ready to take advantage of whatever opportunity he is given by Louis van Gaal and that could well be against City on Sunday.
Rojo looked uncertain in himself at the start of the season but the more time that has passed, the better he has played and fans have certainly taken to him.
