Although the pick of the bunch has to be Rooney’s exquisite volley against Aston Villa at Old Trafford last weekend, there were plenty of other great individual moments.
Mata has been in red hot form recently and continued that against Villa. He might not have got on the score sheet but he was heavily involved in everything United did everywhere across the pitch. Alongside Ander Herrera and Michael Carrick, the Spaniard has become part of a wonderful midfield trio.
The inclusion of Harrop is richly deserved after his performance against West Ham’s U21s this week in a match where he scored two goals from midfield. He’s got great control with the ball at his feet and has enjoyed a strong season with Warren Joyce’s U21s.
James Wilson must have been inspired by Mata’s overhead kick at Anfield when he tried one himself but unfortunately for the boy from Biddulph, his effort was wide of the mark.
Hopefully in next week’s trickbox we see plenty of Man City players getting left with their pants down by United.
