Pereira has been a regular feature on Man United’s bench and made his Premier League debut in the game against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
While he was unlikely to play against Man City given how big the game is, for van Gaal to mention the youngster shows the manager values the Brazilian as part of his first-team squad.
The youngster could be playing out his final two months at the club with no new contract signed as yet despite a Premier League debut against Tottenham last month.
Pereira is currently away with the Brazil U20s national team. Despite being born in Belgium and representing his home nation at youth level, the midfielder opted to represent the South American giants.
The manager confirms to reporters that Andreas Pereira is unavailable as he is away on international duty with Brazil U20s.

He received his first call up last year and it appears he has a big future, leaving United supporters hoping they won’t be left with another Paul Pogba situation.
Pogba left the club in 2012 for Juventus and has gone on to become one of the best midfielders in world football, despite his young age.
Pereira joined United from PSV back in 2011 and there have been reports of him moving back there, but United will hope it’s on loan next season after agreeing a new deal with the club as soon as possible.
