When Manchester United played Valencia in the pre-season this year, Marouane Fellaini‘s introduction was sarcastically jeered by some fans inside Old Trafford.
It might have been a small minority but it was indicative of how poor Fellaini’s first year as a Man United player had gone since joining for £27.5m from Everton.
Fast forward nine months and the Stretford End is singing Fellaini’s name after he scored to put United 2-1 up against Manchester City in the derby.
It’s been a phenomenal transformation from a man who most fans considered an inconvenience in a starting XI rather than an asset and Gary Neville summed it up perfectly when Fellaini was being substituted.
In his commentary, Neville said: “This is a revelation…all of Old Trafford giving a standing ovation for Marouane Fellaini.”
