Manchester United are now considered favourites to sign Burnley’s Danny Ings having already held talks with the Premier League side about a summer transfer.
Ings has also drawn interest from Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City having scored nine goals in 25 appearances during his debut Premier League season.
The 22-year-old was first linked to Man United last month after reportedly leaving a lasting impression on Louis van Gaal and it would be a big signal of intention if United had already held discussions with Burnley.
With Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie’s future uncertain at United, a new striker signing in the summer is a very strong possibility and Premier League proven Ings sounds like he could be one of the players being considered.
Ings is a free agent in the summer so there would simply be a training cost compensation payable to Burnley but given that would more than likely be less than Falcao’s loan fee for this year, it’d certainly be well within United’s reach.
A young, promising, English talent is one which United used to snap up and nurture without a moments hesitation and as van Gaal has shown this year, he is more than happy to put his faith in youngsters which would bode well for opportunities or Ings at United.
