Manchester United’s potential 4-3-3 against Chelsea – Michael Carrick out

by Ben Topliss

Michael Carrick has been instrumental in Manchester United’s excellent six-game winning streak but Louis van Gaal may be without him for the game against Chelsea on Saturday night.

The 33-year-old suffered an injury in last weekend’s 4-2 win against Manchester City and was forced to limp off late on.

It was a worrying sight for Man United fans as Carrick has established himself as a key part of the team’s attacking play. With him in midfield, they look a completely different side.

If United are without Carrick then Daley Blind may move into the middle as a replacement.

The Dutchman has been excellent at left-back recently but can do an equally good job in the middle of the park.

Luke Shaw will take his place on the left flank, although that is dependent on whether he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Fans are optimistic heading into the game due to their side’s superb run but they would be a whole lot more confident if Carrick was in the team. Hopefully, his injury isn’t too severe and he will be fit to line up at Stamford Bridge.
