Paris Saint-Germain president rules out Edinson Cavani exit

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi has insisted Edinson Cavani will stay at the Parc des Princes this summer despite reports linking him with Manchester United.

Cavani has been touted as a potential replacement for Robin van Persie as Louis van Gaal reassesses his attacking options ahead of next season.

The Uruguayan clashed with PSG manager Laurent Blanc earlier this month when he was substituted in the 3-2 win against Marseille, adding to the speculation.

However, Al Khelaifi dismissed talk that Cavani will leave PSG by ruling out a potential move.

Speaking about Cavani’s future, Al Khelaifi said: ”Edinson Cavani is a player I like a lot.

”I can tell you that he feels very good with us, and there is no question of him leaving. Paris loves him, and he loves Paris.”

Cavani is undoubtedly an excellent player but there is a question mark over his attitude. Louis van Gaal may not take too kindly to any outbursts.

There are also some doubts over whether Cavani is exactly the right player to take United forward. Strong, good in the air and quick, Cavani seemingly has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League but there is still a lingering sense that he isn’t quite good enough to fit in at United. Following the awful loan spell of Radamel Falcao, van Gaal cannot afford to make another mistake in the transfer market.
