Tom Cleverley wanted by Arsenal and several Premier League clubs – report

by Ben Topliss

Aston Villa, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and Arsenal are all interested in signing Tom Cleverley, according to Sky Sports.

Cleverley, who has spent the season on loan at Villa from Manchester United, is a free agent at the end of the season.

As well as interest from the Premier League, four European teams are also said to be keeping tabs on his situation.

Despite his failings, there was a spell in 2011 when Cleverley and Anderson established a fruitful partnership in the middle of the park for United.

During their time in the starting XI, United secured a memorable victory over Manchester City in the Community shield and an 8-2 demolition of Arsenal in the league.

However, both players suffered from huge dips in form and were eventually moved on by the club.

It is remarkable how Cleverley is still garnering interest from some top clubs but perhaps they are keen on getting him on a free. Arsenal, in particular, would be an interesting destination for him as far as he would link up again with Danny Welbeck after he joined them last summer.
