Ben Pearson is keen to push on from his loan spell at Barnsley this season and would like to join a Championship side in order to keep progressing in his career.
The 20-year-old was given his first ever loan spell away from Manchester United this season at been on loan at League One side Barnsley and has gone on to do really well during his short spell at the club.
Despite Barnsley changing managers, Pearson kept his place in the team which is a testament to the good impression he created, thanks in no small part to his full blooded and committed style of play.
Although his eye will be on first-team opportunities under Louis van Gaal next year, Pearson would also be happy with a loan spell at a Championship side.
“I’ve been watching all the Under-21 games and they seem to be doing well,” Pearson told MUTV.
“I speak to quite a few of them to see how they’re doing and I never lose contact with them while I’m here.
“I came here just for experience originally and hoping I could kick on. Whether next year I can be in the first-team fold, you never know, or go out on loan again, hopefully to a Championship side, so it would be good if Barnsley get promoted. I’ll see what happens. I’m not tied down to anything. I just want to play my football and enjoy myself.”
We’ve sung the praises of Pearson on more than one occasion this season and it comes as no surprise to hear he’s making the right impressions at Barnsley. He’s a tenacious player and exactly the sort of terrier any competitive midfielder needs.
In terms of his chances next season at Man United, he’s got a long list of top quality midfielders in front of him but van Gaal isn’t afraid to give youngsters a chance so there is every possibility Pearson could be given a seat on the pre-season tour which would be a fantastic stepping stone for him.
