Manchester United’s Best XI + Starting Formation vs Chelsea

by Sam Peoples

David de Gea – Had one of his “coming of age” games against Chelsea in the past. Hopefully will be equally as indomitable on Saturday.

Antonio Valencia – He’ll have to bring his A-game because Eden Hazard will have him on toast if he doesn’t concentrate.

Chris Smalling – Really impressing with his recent performances and must keep it up.

Phil Jones – Toss up with Marcos Rojo but it really is a case of “if it isn’t broken, why fix it?”

Daley Blind – Very much enjoying Blind at left-back and you get the feeling he’s enjoying the freedom too.

Michael Carrick – As always, United winning the game will very much depend on how well Carrick plays.

Marouane Fellaini – The big danger man will cause Chelsea all sorts of problems.

Ander Herrera – Who needs Cesc Fabregas when you’ve got Herrera?

Juan Mata – Back to Stamford Bridge for Mata and United fans are hoping he can force Jose Mourinho into a strop with a match winning performance.

Ashley Young – His crosses were so effective against Manchester City and Louis van Gaal will want more of the same from him.

Wayne Rooney – Didn’t score against Man City last week but did everything else. Really is taking to his captain’s role well.
