Luke Shaw rubbishes reports he wouldn’t celebrate against Chelsea

Luke Shaw has rubbished reports he wouldn’t celebrate if he scored against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

It’s a well known fact that the 19-year-old grew up as a Chelsea fan and in a recent interview, Shaw was questioned on how he thought he would react if he were to get his first Manchester United goal this weekend.

“I haven’t scored yet so I don’t know,” he said.

“If my first goal was to come against Chelsea I’m not sure what I’d do.”

Shaw was frustrated at being misquoted and when asked by a fan on Twitter, he made it clear that being a Chelsea fan wouldn’t stop him from celebrating:

That being said, Shaw isn’t in line to return to the starting XI unless Michael Carrick is forced to miss the game through injury. If that were to happen, Daley Blind would shift back to midfield and either Shaw or Rojo would take over at left-back.

Shaw’s had a tough time of it so far at United and fans are eager for him to replicate the same sort of form he showed at Southampton which earned him a move to Old Trafford.

It would be a big test for Shaw to return in such a tough away game but if Carrick isn’t fit, there is a chance he’ll have his opportunity to show van Gaal why he should be his first-choice left-back.
