Radamel Falcao’s long-term seems more set to be certain from Manchester United by the match.
Defensive injuries and a reshuffle meant the Colombian got the chance to start against Chelsea on Saturday, but the striker once again struggled to make an impact, despite hitting the post after some good individual work in the second half.
If the reported £43m fee is set in place, it seems almost implausible the club will keep Falcao on a permanent basis unless he has an incredible end to the season.
But with Wayne Rooney set to return to his sole striker role, it’s more a question of how many times United fans will see Falcao in the red shirt again, and where he’ll play his football next season.
The majority of top clubs will surely have a vested interest in Falcao given his previous form and hope his spell at United was down to the serious knee injury he suffered a year ago.
United Peoples TV spoke to Joel from Cheeky Sport at Stamford Bridge after the Chelsea game and he thinks that Falcao will move to Liverpool ‘for the money’, a move that would certainly cut any emotional ties fans still have with a player that remains unusually popular, despite his poor form.
With Liverpool desperate for a new striker, they could have an interest but it would be interesting to see if they could match the £43m fee. A return to Spain or a move to Italy would probably be more likely for a player that will surely leave Old Trafford next month with the best wishes of most supporters.
