Adnan Januzaj was forced off with an ankle injury tonight whilst playing for Manchester United’s U21s against Leicester City.
Rafael da Silva also had to be substituted having suffered a rib injury himself so it was not a good night in regards to fresh injuries for Louis van Gaal‘s squad.
Januzaj hasn’t played a central role for Man United in recent games but came off the bench against Chelsea at the weekend so is still in an around the first-team, but an ankle injury would certainly set him back.
With Michael Carrick already injured alongside the likes of Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones, United’s injury problems seem to be creeping back into the squad at a very crucial stage this season.

Like Rafael, Januzaj has had a rather indifferent season under van Gaal.
He has enjoyed runs of consecutive games in the first-team but they have been sandwiched in between extended absences which has made it hard for him to make real progress in his second full season as a United player.
Januzaj still has his full career ahead of himself but looking ahead towards next year he will want to play a more central role and the pre-season tour is likely to be his opportunity to impress van Gaal.
