Rafael da Silva and Adnan Januzaj are both set for assessments at Carrington tonight on injuries they picked up last night playing for Manchester United’s U21s.
A hard knock to the ribs left Rafael in a heap on the floor and he had to be substituted before half-time due to the impact, while Januzaj also had to leave the pitch with a grimaced face after pulling up.
Neither have played a central role for United this season as Louis van Gaal has preferred other options but a series of injuries including Michael Carrick, Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones has seen United’s squad get much thinner in numbers over the past two weeks.
It reminds fans of the terrible injury problems which United have had to face all season long and for both Rafael and Januzaj, injuries could spell the end of their season with so few games left to play.
Hopefully the news is good and doesn’t keep either player out of first-team training for too long.
