Manchester United’s players took part in a ‘Dream Day’ experience yesterday in order to give a group of fans with life limiting illnesses a special day at Carrington.
They watched the first-team train before meeting Louis van Gaal and all the players and then had the opportunity to meet all the players and get their autographs.
Events like these make such a difference to those who get the opportunity to go on them. It’s a memory they will have forever.
As for United’s players, Ashley Young sums up what it means to help give the select few fans that special experience:
Last year, Young had a kind gesture of his own when he helped a terminally ill fan enjoy an executive box experience. He wasn’t asked to do it, he saw the message and replied himself. He might have been frustrating on the pitch for a long time but Young really does seem like the good guy off of it and that sums up the general feeling among United fans for the squad right now.
There’s a togetherness being created and the team spirit is growing with every passing game. Under van Gaal’s stewardship, United are becoming a tight unit.
