Hector Moreno prefers Arsenal move over Manchester United – report

by Ben Topliss

Espanyol defender Hector Moreno has told his agent that he prefers a move to Arsenal rather than Manchester United, according to the Express.

Moreno has enjoyed an impressive season in La Liga, catching the eye with a number of solid displays.  His 20 appearances in all competitions is particularly notable given the fact he suffered from a long-term injury for the majority of last season.

Both Arsene Wenger and Louis van Gaal are said to be interested in Moreno, who would be available on the cheap at the end of the campaign.

However, reports suggest the player himself has instructed his agent that he would like to move to Arsenal ahead of a switch to Old Trafford.

Moreno may have provided some depth at the back but Paddy McNair’s performance against Chelsea last weekend showed that United have some reliable players should they be needed.

When it comes to the sort of defenders United need to sign in the summer, van Gaal will be looking for game changers, the sort of players who can come in and lead the defence. With that in mind and the budget he’ll be given, United’s boss will be looking for a player with a more proven track record than Moreno.
