Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with Memphis Depay.
Now, Dutch media outlet Voetbal International have thrown Paris St Germain’s name into the mix after reporting that the French side had held preliminary talks with Depay to discuss a potential move.
VI also said PSG had a failed bid for Depay in the winter transfer window and that despite their advances, Depay is determined to join the Premier League which, of course, would play perfectly into United’s hands. Adding the Louis van Gaal factor on top of that gives United an excellent chance of luring Depay to Old Trafford.
With the likes of Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Thomas Muller at the forefront for Bayern Munich, there is every chance Depay would follow the Xherdan Shaqiri model if he joined Bayern anyway. The Swiss winger joined with great promise but left not long after in order to actually get some playing time.
Man United are in a strong position to negotiate for Depay. They have the money, van Gaal has previously worked with Depay and as a Dutchman will have some great powers of persuasion over the 21-year-old.
That being said, there are going to be a number of potential suitors for Depay so it would be in United’s best interests to seal a move for the PSV winger as early as possible in the summer window, if a transfer was to happen.
