Louis van Gaal: Adnan Januzaj injury is ‘not so heavy’

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed the injury that Adnan Januzaj picked up earlier this week is “not so heavy.”

Januzaj hobbled off with an ankle injury during Man United’s U21s match against Leicester City on Monday night.

The young Belgian has been in and out the side in recent weeks and a long absence would have been another blow for him.

However, van Gaal confirmed that Januzaj’s injury is not as bad as first feared:

Expectations blew through the roof for Januzaj following a hugely impressive debut season last year but fans have to remember that he is still only 20-years-old.

Luke Shaw has gone through similar problems over the course of the campaign but both simply need time to develop.

There were rumours earlier this week that PSV Eindhoven were interested in taking Januzaj on loan and it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world. With a year of solid first-team football away from the spotlight, Januzaj would come back a rejuvenated player.
