Everton vs Manchester United: Team line-ups

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, McNair, Shaw, Blind, Herrera, Mata, Fellaini, Young, Rooney.

Subs: Valdes, Blackett, Januzaj, Pereira, Di Maria, van Persie, Falcao

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has named a strong starting XI to face Everton at Goodison Park this afternoon.

The good news for Man United is that Daley Blind comes back into the side after missing last weekend’s defeat against Chelsea.

His inclusion means Wayne Rooney returns to his favoured position up front. Elsewhere, Paddy McNair partners Chris Smalling at the heart of defence while Luke Shaw continues at left-back.

Radamel Falcao drops to the substitute’s bench and is joined by Robin van Persie and Andreas Pereira.

United’s starting XI was ravaged by injuries against Chelsea so it is good to see them getting their squad back together. Michael Carrick’s continued absence will worry van Gaal but the team he has named today should have more than enough to get a positive result against Everton.
