Fans’ view: Should Jonny Evans or Paddy McNair start against Everton?

by Sam Peoples

Jonny Evans has returned to Manchester United’s squad having served his six game suspension which he received after being charged with spitting at Papiss Cisse.

Yet, despite his availability, there are absolutely no guarantees he will come back into the starting XI and it could be his 19-year-old compatriot Paddy McNair who stands in his way.

Louis van Gaal has turned to McNair during more than one injury crisis this season and he has left a lasting impression on both van Gaal and the fans alike.

So, with that in mind, we decided to ask our Twitter followers whether they thought Evans or McNair should start against Everton with Marco Rojo and Phil Jones still sidelined through injury?

Evans, 27, might be McNair’s senior in age but when it comes to who warrants a starting spot against Everton, he has some catching up to do.

Fans are ultimately unconvinced by Evans’ long term future at the club and the fact they want a 19-year-old to start ahead of Evans in what is a tough encounter away to Everton.
