Manchester United fell to their second defeat in the space of eight days as Everton brushed them aside in clinical fashion on Sunday.

The last time United scored at Goodison Park was in 2011, and that statistic continued as the hosts put three goals past David de Gea, killing United’s game in the process.

Louis van Gaal‘s side started well but fell behind to an Everton breakaway, with James McCarthy finally putting the ball into the net. United’s best chance came soon after as Marouane Fellaini fired well over with just the goalkeeper to beat.

John Stones added a second just before half-time. It was a blow to the visitors, who had looked like getting back into the game until that point.

The introductions of Radamel Falcao and Angel Di Maria changed nothing except the scoreline as Kevin Mirallas ran through to add the third.
