Marouane Fellaini has enjoyed a fine season at Manchester United but he was poor on his return to former club Everton on Sunday.
The Belgian was largely ineffectual during the game and picked up a booking which forced Louis van Gaal to substitute him at half-time.
As it panned out, the change didn’t help things too much as Kevin Mirallas scored late on to wrap up a 3-0 win for the hosts.
Fellaini will be particularly frustrated that he couldn’t perform against Everton, who he served with distinction between 2008 and 2013.
Fellaini has been in lethal form in recent weeks and the hope is that opponents haven’t figured out how to limit his influence on a game.
If they have, the midfielder may have to adapt his playing style. Louis van Gaal has brought the best out of Fellaini this term and the Dutchman will be confident of finding a way to help him regain his best form.
